SYNOPSIS

Filmed over the course of three years, SHUFFLE follows three young people whose lives depend not on getting into treatment, but on getting out alive, and in the process, shines a light on the insurance-fueled cycle of addiction treatment fraud spreading across the country. With the filmmaker serving as narrator, using his own experience as a roadmap, these personal stories provide the framework for a public investigation with the help of an FBI informant, an insurance analyst and the former Executive Director of a Philadelphia-based treatment facility. SHUFFLE unravels a web of public policy and private interest preying on a vulnerable population for the sake of profit.

BENJAMIN FLAHERTY | Writer, Director, Producer, Executive Producer

Benjamin Flaherty is an Austin-based filmmaker with a diverse collection of work - from documentary and art films with Lou Reed & Lola Schnabel to commercial spots for major brands. His short form PSA’s have been awarded at Cannes, D&AD, One Show and the Clios. His documentary feature debut, Shuffle won the Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature at SXSW 2025.

CARRA GREENBERG | Producer, Executive Producer

Carra Greenberg has produced commercials, docu-series and feature content for a variety of brands and networks. Her first feature documentary, DAUGHTERS OF THE SEXUAL REVOLUTION, explored the women’s movement through the lens of the original Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and won a Grand Jury Prize at SXSW. HAVANA LIBRE documents the underground world of surfing in Cuba. Her most recent documentary, SHUFFLE, won the Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary at SXSW. She is currently the Head of Production at Ritual Arts, a content studio focusing on storytelling that inspires culture change. She is an honors graduate of New York Law School’s Social Justice Policy Center.
